Non-mobile
Relish this non-mobile phase from 12 weeks to approximately 4–6months.
This phase is golden. Babies in this stage tend to spend most time on their back and occasionally their tummy. Bowel habits have usually established a basic pattern but can be still quite runny and explosive until solids are introduced after 6 months. Babies are also generally more settled at night so you might start looking at a dedicated night nappy that will last the distance.
By now your baby's growth will have settled into a more predictable pattern, growth charts are great to start predicting what size they will be at a certain age so you know how much wear you will get out of a particular size of nappy.
Challenges
- Runny, explosive poos still a challenge.
- Longer sleep times may require a more absorbant nappy at night.
- As baby starts to roll you may find yourself with a tummy sleeper or a side sleeper.
- Rolling also means more challenging nappy changes.
Rewards
- You can really start to see the economical benefits especially if you are using a one size nappy.
- You will have settled into some sembelance of a routine which means popping those few nappies in with bub's clothes when you go out won't feel like so much of an effort.
- By now you will know what nappies suit your baby and their body shape so you can have more confidence in selecting new styles of nappies.
- You might start looking at returning to work and need a simple nappy system to take to daycare.
- You can start finalising you stash and looking at those special show-off nappies

- Pocket fitteds or fitted nappies with adjustable/folding boosters for tummy sleepers so that you can choose where the absorbancy goes.
